The Alfred-Wegener-Institute

The Alfred-Wegener-Institute for Polar Research and Oceanography with HQ in Bremerhaven, Germany is the partner of the film project "Kongsfjord“ as well as the Helmholtz-Gemeinschaft.
These are active in research in Arctic regions, in the Antarctica
and in oceans of middle and high latitudes.

The Alfred-Wegener-Institute maintains an all-season research centre in Ny Ålesund at Kongsfjord. The Institute grants us use of
the scuba dive base and a diving vessel. Moreover, our partners provide us with the invaluable knowledge and experience of their staff – without, our project would not be feasible.
